All of our lives are affected by the new coronavirus and in these times of uncertainty, more and more people step up and help their communities as they can. It is no surprise that the dance community is not an exception!

Despite all the difficulties, we now have a unique opportunity to get dance classes from some of the most amazing professional dancers so The Wonderful World of Dance decided to gather some of them for you!

We will be updating the list as more and more dancers decide to go live and share their dance training!

Eric Gauthier has used the current ban on performances to realise a long-held dream of his: to create his own YouTube channel for dance-along videos. Lucinda Strachan (@balletskirts_by_lucinda) English National Ballet Artist and owner of her own ballet skirts brand offers her daily ballet class every day at 1 pm UK time/ 8 am EST.

Ballet Hispanico Dance School (@ballethispanicoedu) is sharing dance classes on their official IG account. On Tuesday 7th of April the School of Dance offers variety of classes, including classes for children of different ages, ballet and salsa, stretch and conditioning and more. American Ballet Theatre School (@abtschool)  The ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School will be closed until April 20, however they are offering daily virtual classes taught by former ABT dancers. Corentin Cauffiez a former dancer with Paris National Conservatory and the Geneva Junior Ballet is now a ballet teacher in Switzerland and during these times is giving live yoga and ballet classes on his Facebook page three times a week (Yoga on Monday 7 pm BST/ 2 pm EST and Wednesday 9:30 a.m. BST and ballet on Thursday 7 pm BST / 2 pm EST)

Victoria Ballet Academy (@victoriaballetacademy) a Canadian ballet academy specialized in teaching professional and recreational ballet offers daily ballet and deep stretch classes on their IG.

Artists Simply Human (@artistssimplyhuman) celebrate movement with classes in multiple genres including Contemporary, Hip Hop, Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Tap, Jazz Funk, Fusion and Improv. They are now doing Live Classes on their IG with a variety of dancers (so far they had a class with Dusty Button, Jojo Gomez, Sabrina Phillip and others). Check their Insta to be up to date!

Broadway Dance Center (@bdcnyc), the epicentre of dance training in New York City started “Homeschool with BDC” on their Instagram Classes. Check out the class schedule on their IG.

Royal Academy of Dance @Home As the home for dance, the RAD is here to support you when you can’t leave yours. As such, RAD created RAD@Home to provide a whole raft of content to help you make the most of dancing at home. Over the coming weeks, more classes will be added as well as fun and useful features such as exclusive Dance Gazette articles, interviews and more.  To stay up to date visit RAD website!

Ailey Extension (@aileyextension) the official dance studio of Alvin Ailey American Dance Foundation wants you to keep dancing! Extension instructors are offering online classes to you to take while you’re staying home. You can take a hip hop, salsa, theatre dance, ballet class or many more. You can access some of the classes on demand on their Youtube Channel or join a live class on IG, See the daily schedule of available classes and links here!

Kirov Academy of Washington DC (@kirovacademydc) Washington-based school is the first dance school outside Russia to officially be given the name “Kirov”. In the times of social distancing, they are offering live ballet classes with the school’s Artistic Director Runqiao Du on their Facebook and Instagram pages! Check their social media accounts for schedule updates!

AMA Dance Theatre (@amadancetheatre) is a professional dance school and a member of International Dance Council.They now started a series of Instagram Live classes with some guest teachers (like Royal Ballet’s Leticia Dias). Check out their IG for schedule updates!

Rambert (@rambertdance) launched Rambert Home Studio, offering inspiring classes online for everyone to take at home, whatever their age or level, from early years through to people aged 60 and over.

Rambert Home Studio is offered on a pay what you can donation basis (via Paypal) with most classes available on our Youtube channel.

Dancers must register their interest for the professional class series which takes place on zoom. More information and timetables are available on Rambert’s website.

LINES Dance Center (@linesdancecenter) of Alonzo King LINES Ballet is offering daily live classes since March 18th and have just moved our annual adult dance intensive scheduled for May 28-31, including an exciting opportunity to take a session with Artistic Director, Alonzo King. several current and former LINES Ballet company members as guest teachers on our weekly class schedule; Adji Cissoko is now teaching a regular class on Wednesdays. Dance Companies

English National Ballet (@englishnationalballet) offers special ballet class with companies Artistic Director and Lead Principal Dancer Tamara Rojo and some of the companies dancers! Previous lessons are available on companies IGTV and Youtube Channel. Check for the announcements of the next classes. Ballet Hispánico (@ballethispanico) announced a new Instagram video series entitled B Unidos, began on March 23 at 12 pm EST/ 5 pm BST. The series will feature a series of videos posted each weekday, created by the three arms of the Ballet Hispánico: the professional company, the School of Dance, and Community Arts Partnership (CAP).

The Australian Ballet started a series of “simple but effective” ballet exercises with company’s Artistic Director David McAllister. You can check the classes on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram.

Birmingham Royal Ballet is launching Home From Home, a new series of online content which will give an exclusive insight into the company’s daily routine and specially curated performances as they stay fit and creative whilst in isolation at their homes across the globe. The series will open on 3rd of April 11 am BST/ 6 am EST with Ballet Class Live, an exclusive live-streamed class led by Ballet Master Dominic Antonucci that company members will be dialling into voluntarily from wherever they live in the world. The class will be stramed via BBC ARTS.

American Midwest Ballet as part of its response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, American Midwest Ballet’s official school is now offering a selection of online dance classes, available free to the community. Recorded by American Midwest Ballet School faculty members, the on-demand classes can be viewed at any time on the shools Youtube Channel and range from creative movement for pre-schoolers to advanced-level ballet, tap, modern/contemporary, and jazz.

Jasmin Vardimon Company offers Pop Up Space classes FREE online for a month. You can join the class from your own home, to keep moving and strengthen your body via Zoom. You can check the details and schedule here!

New York City Ballet (@nycballet) has recently announced their digital season, which apart from ballet performances included movent classes with NYCB Artists. These classes include #WednesdayWithWendy, a series of ballet-inspired movement classes taught by NYCB Associate Artistic Director Wendy Whelan on Instagram Live, every Wednesday at 5 pm EST/ 10 pm BST, as well as a series of live virtual Ballet Essentials interactive educational workshops led by NYCB artists, every Monday and Thursday at 6 pm EST/ 11 pm BST; and Ballet Breaks virtual workshops for movers 3 to 8 years old, taught by NYCB artists, every Saturday at 11 am EST/ 4 pm BST.You can find more details here!

BalletMet (@balletmet) Ohio-based professional company is offering a variety of dance classes: do you want to try a fun dance combo or do a ballet related craft? Classes for all skill levels and ages are available on the company’s Youtube Channel.

The ROH Learning Platform The Royal Opera House today opened the doors to a new virtual classroom and launched a brand-new programme of free home-learning opportunities for children and young people to encourage their creativity. Championed by former Royal Ballet Principal Darcey Bussell, this unique series of home learning activities has an inspiring range of content for every age across music, dance and making. National Dance Company Wales BBC Arts digital festival Culture in Quarantine will present Wales’ National Dance Company – the Cardiff-based contemporary dance company –  live-streaming one of its daily dance classes, giving an opportunity for audiences to join in and to have a look into the lives of professional dancers at this time of lockdown. The class, which will be streamed at 11 am BST on Friday 17 April, will feature Angela Towler, former Rehearsal Director for Rambert Dance Company, leading the session involving the Company’s 10 dancers, and inviting people to just watch or join in the exercise.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company (@nainichendancecompany) announces free online company classes weekdays at 12 pm EST/ 5 pm BST with Asian American Master Artists and company dancers. You can check the class schedule on company’s IG or here. You can join classes via Zoom.

Dutch National Ballet launched online platform under the title ‘Keep on Singing and Dancing – Stay Safe’. The platform will provide a wide selection of items to interest all age groups, including dance classes on the company’s Youtube Channel.

Smuin Ballet (@smuinballet) offers zoom classes in a variety of styles and skill levels, taught by your favorite past & present Smuin dancers! Martha Graham Dance Company (@marthagrahamdance) is offering Graham Technique Classes of different levels with the company’s dancers. Classes vary from fundamentals to advanced level. There is a class every weekday! You can check the schedule here! All classes are streamed on IG Live of Martha Graham Dance Company.

Battery Dance (@batterydance) announces the creation of Battery Dance TV, launching on Friday, March 27, 2020 to provide free live dance classes and programming for the general public by Battery Dance and affiliated artists through a regularly scheduled program. The classes include Jazz and Ballet Fusion, Tango, Cha Cha and others. You can check the full schedule and access the live stream here. Some classes are also available on Battery Dance IG TV.

New Adventures (@mbnewadventures) Matthew Bourne’s company is not only surprising us with behind the scenes, QAs, insights videos about some of their acclaimed productions and other materials, but also offers dance classes spotlighting some of the incredible Dance Artists and company dancers that will be leading these sessions. National Ballet of Canada (@nationalballet)  one of the world’s top ballet companies has launched “Join Us Virtually” campaign which includes talks with dancers, Q&As, activities like cooking and of course dance classes with company’s dancers. Check out their IG or website for the schedule details!
National Ballet of Canada’s Ballet Fun for Kids programme: The National Ballet of Canada has created fun activities and resources that bring the beauty of dance and live theatre to families and kids at home. Joffrey’s Ballet (@joffreyballet): as a part of company’s Digital Season they’ve started a weekly dance class series “Train Like the Pros” with company artists. The classes are streamed on Joffrey’s Youtube Channel on Sundays at 11 am CDT/ 5 pm BST. The upcoming classes will feature Greig Matthews (7th of June) and Anais Bueno (14th of June).

Dance Theatre of Harlem (@dancetheatreofharlem) has created #DTHOnDemand, a digital platform to help bring their artistry directly into our homes which includes not only full-length archival performances, conversations with artists, instructional videos for children and adults, but also online classes for all levels taught by DTH alumni, faculty and company members!

Russell Maliphant Dance Company (@maliphantworks) will be hosting online classes for a limited period of time as we continue through this current landscape. These classes will be led by Russell or dancers from the company.
Classes are focused on increasing body awareness, articulation and strength whilst exploring choices in movement and dynamics within a playful practice.  The classes are suitable for professionals, dancers in training and those with a few years physical training or movement experience. Bloch (@bloch_eu)  another dancewear company is sharing daily live dance lessons from wonderful dances like Camilla Mancuso, Christine Shevchenko and Irina Dvorovenko. Online Duncan Classes with Emily D’Angelo (@isadoraduncandancefoundation) Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation (IDDF) is offering All Isadora Duncan Technique classes on their IG LIVE!  Classes will take place on Wednesdays 12 pm EST/ 5 pm BST (breathe and flow with Duncan Technique) and Saturdays 2  pm EST/ 7 pm BST (full Isadora Duncan Class, rhythmic, athletic, and expressive). Sadler’s Well’s Digital Stage workshop series for audiences to dance along to at home also continues. This week on Wednesday 8 April, the second of the workshops for older adults aged over 60 will be available. Hosted by Lucia Caruso, this will be a flamenco themed workshop and can be found online via the Sadler’s Wells Facebook and YouTube channels. Check out the details here!

Merce Cunningham Trust (@mercetrust) first online repertory workshop is open to anyone and everyone! “50 Looks” is a long series of still positions. It can be done by people of all ages, with or without formal dance training, and is suitable for small, confined spaces. artÉmotion (@artemotionusa) Ballet intensive decided to adapt in the light of COVID-19 and invite to join their Virtual Ballet Assembly. They offer daily IG classes at 12 pm MDT/ 7 pm BST. You can check the complete schedule of classes on their website.

Danzoom (@danzoom_class) is an initiative offering various dance classes via Zoom with plenty of amazing dancers and teachers including amazing Iana Salenko (Principal Dancer of Berlin State Ballet), Léonore Baulac (Étoile at Paris Opera Ballet), Marcelo Gomes (Principal Dancer and Ballet Master at Semperoper Ballet),  Zenaida Yanowsky ​(coach and teacher, former Principal at The Royal Ballet) and many others. CLI Studios (@clistudios) started #KEEPDANCING Community Classes – advanced classes designed to keep professional-level dancers (18+) around the world training! You can find classes in different styles like contemporary, hip hop, vogue, jazz, ballet barre and others. Dancers and choreographers who lead the classes will also pleasantly surprise you.
