Stephanie has a lifelong passion for language and dance. She is a professional flamenco dancer and BA Modern Language graduate and speaks 4 languages.
After training for 7 years in the renowned Madrid-based flamenco academy – Amor de Dios – she searched for the very essence of the flamenco spirit and found it in Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia, where she spent a further 7 years, training and working as a flamenco dancer. Jerez holds a very special place in her heart and she considers this wonderful city and its people, to be her dance inspiration.
In 2006, she founded the dance company Mi Flamenco, alongside partner and guitarist, Uri Tal. She co-produces, directs and dances in her company under the stage name of Ester Tal, working with exceptional individuals, both as people and artists. It is pure joy working with the gypsy flamenco artists, but she also loves collaborating with artists from other disciplines and enjoys watching other dancers do the same.
She is a lover of varied dance styles, physical performance and theatre. What inspires her is performance that makes an emotional connection; that goes beyond technique.
She firmly believes that dance can make the world a better place, both for spectators and participants and everyone should have a chance to share in its joy.
Mi Flamenco became a registered charity for the arts in 2013 and works with vulnerable adults in deprived communities as part of its outreach work. Another amazing thing about being an artist is seeing how collaborative projects using music, rhythm, movement and other creative skills break down barriers and improve lives.
Stephanie also teaches regularly in her flamenco academy, as well as delivering workshops to flamenco aficionados of all levels in the UK and in Spain.
Joining from Resolution Review 2018, Stephanie is excited about combining both her extensive experience in dance and her love of the written word, to share with dance-lovers everywhere.
