After arriving in Sri Lanka and spending more than 2 hours in a traffic jam from Colombo airport, we arrived at Tintagel Paradise Road Hotel to discover the most divine historic grandeur.
On the steps of this gorgeous hotel that once belonged to the president and prime minister of Sri Lanka, the president was shot. Passing through the political family it is now a historic landmark hotel.
This gorgeous boutique hotel, is divinely designed with sumptuous interiors that befit the historic building. You’ll have to book in advance, but if you can get in, definitely stay at this hotel.
We stayed in Suite 6, which was luxurious and stylish traditional furniture mixed with modern black and whites. The four poster bed provided the perfect night’s sleep after a long flight.
The indoor hotel pool is beautiful too and the lobby, library and red bars are a magical oasis in the bustling craziness of Colombo. Tintagel Paradise Road Hotel definitely makes Wonderful Hotels List.
We only spent one night in Colombo and had to leave for the Maldives at 5 am, so we didn’t get to see too much of the capital city. Taking to the streets, we hardly saw any other tourists, and it was great to walk around and see the city and local life.
The roads and traffic are totally insane. I was actually a little scared crossing the road – it felt like Saigon, Vietnam! We managed to fit in some shopping, jumping in tuk tuks racing around the city stocking up before flying out to the Six Senses Laamu.
I wish we had more time in Colombo, and if we get a chance to come back we will definitely stay at Tintagel Paradise Road Hotel.
