This week we’re off to Amsterdam! We’re going to be visiting the Dutch (Het) National Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater. I’m unbelievably excited as I am a huge fan of both companies.

NDT recently came to London and performed two profound and stunning pieces, Sehnsucht and Schmetterling. This was the first time I’d seen these pieces and I was absolutely moved by the creativity of the sets and lighting, the absorbing choreography and the incredible dancers.  I can’t wait to visit the company in The Hague and see Mats Ek’s Sleeping Beauty in Amsterdam!

I’m also visiting the Dutch National Ballet – it will be incredible to see them on their home stage.  I’m off to the premiere of Back to Bach, which celebrates the work of Johann Sebastian Bach.

I feel honoured to be invited by both companies to see them perform.  I’ll be tweeting and posting throughout the week while cycling around the beautiful canals of Amsterdam!

p.s. hope you love the photo of Dutch National Ballet dancer Victoria Ananyan!
